RIP STEPHEN GATELY (1976-2009)
BOYZONE singer Stephen Gately has been found dead on a Spanish Island.
A message posted to the band's tour website this morning states Stephen "tragically died yesterday whilst on holiday with his partner Andrew in Majorca."
The rest of the band - Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane
Lynch and Mikey Graham - will fly to the island today.
Stephen and his partner Andrew Cowels had been taking time off after Boyzone announced their comeback tour last November.
The Irish singer, 33, fell asleep after returning to his holiday accommodation from a night out and didn't wake up.
Thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.

SUGABABES...
Sugababes were forced to cancel their first live show with new member Jade Ewen because she hasn't signed a contract yet, it has been revealed.
The former Eurovision star, who was expected to make her debut with the group tomorrow night at the Scottish Royal Variety Show in Glasgow, confirmed that she was not legally permitted to perform as a Sugababe.
"I haven't signed a contract so we can't perform as Sugababes. The previous lineup signed up to do the show and there's money involved," she told The Sun.
"Until lawyers get this sorted I can't sing with the band. It's really annoying - I'm raring to go."
Manager Mark Hargreaves added: "This was an unavoidable decision of a contractual nature."
The group have promised to organise a charity show at a later date, with profits donated to the Royal Blind Society, the Scottish Royal Variety's chosen charity.
A statement on behalf of the group reads: "Following the recent and well documented change of lineup to Sugababes, there are a number of legal issues to be finalised by all parties in order that the band can move forward.
"Sadly, whilst these negotiations are approaching completion, it will not be possible for the band to finalise its business affairs prior to Thursday's event."
The group apologised for the "inevitable inconvenience and disappointment" of cancelling the date and promised to organise a show with profits donated to the Royal Blind Society, the Scottish Royal Variety's chosen charity.
"This is such a disappointment to all of us because not only were we looking forward to this being our very first gig together, but my dad happens to be blind and my mum is partially sighted, and I know first-hand the great work the charity does for families like mine," Ewen said.
"That's why Heidi, Amelle and I have agreed to put on our own gig to support this massively worthwhile cause."
The video for ABOUT A GIRL, the new single feat. new member Jade, premieres next Sunday on C4.

SPICE GIRLS REUNION PART 2
Victoria Beckham has reportedly ruled out a Spice Girls reunion because she is too busy with her fashion range.
The 35-year-old, who recently showcased her latest line at London Fashion Week, admitted that she hadn't been approached about a musical comeback.
"I haven't been told anything about a reunion!" she told Hello.
"No-one's asked me to be part of anything like that, and I'm just so busy at the moment.
"I'm very hands-on with designing and I'm loving every minute of it. Even though I've just shown one dress collection, we're already working on next season's designs."
Former bandmates Mel B, Mel C, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton were recently spotted enjoying a night out in London and Halliwell later hinted at the possibility of a second reunion.
The group, who originally split in 2001, briefly reformed in 2007 for the 'Return Of The Spice Girls' world tour.

THE SATURDAYS...
The Saturdays have revealed that their new single 'Forever Is Over' was originally written for Kelly Clarkson.
The track, which was penned by former Busted star James Bourne, was snapped up by the five-piece as the first release from their second album Wordshaker.
"We heard the song playing while at our record company and went into the office where James was talking to the head of the label," Mollie King told the Daily Star.
"We said: 'We have to have that song'. Then we found out that Kelly Clarkson was fighting for it but he gave it to us. James is lovely."
Meanwhile, singer Rochelle Wiseman insisted that the pop-rock sound of the new single marks a "bigger sound" for the group.
"The single's got a full-on pop-rock sound and I think it shows off our voices really well. It's similar to the album in that it's got a bigger sound production-wise, but not all the songs are as rocky like that," she told DS.
The Saturdays released 'Forever Is Over' on Monday and it's currently at #2 on Midweeks with 15.3k copies sold ! Their album Wordshaker is out on October 12.

“BRITAIN IN 2009: A NATION OF BULLIED SOCIAL NETWORKERS WHO DON’T BELIEVE IN GLOBAL WARMING”
THE ANNUAL SOCIAL TRENDS STUDY PUBLISHED BY THE OFFICE FOR NATIONAL STATISTICS PRESENTS A REVEALING PORTRAIT OF THE WAY WE LIVE NOW.
Terri JUDD
HOUSEHOLDS
Almost a third of young men live with their parents
Nearly two million men aged between 20 and 34 still live with their parents, almost twice the number of women of the same age. The proportion of young adults who are reluctant or unable to leave home has increased by about 300,000 since 2001. Far more are continuing with their studies, while others are unemployed. The lack of affordable housing is the chief deciding factor in living with parents. The proportion of single-person households has doubled since 1971, from 6 per cent to 12 per cent, while the number of marriages in England and Wales – 237,000 in 2006 – was the lowest for more than a century. The average age at which people tie the knot is 31.8 for men and 29.7 for women. In the past 10 years, the number of women under 25 giving birth has overtaken the number marrying by that age.
EDUCATION
More three-year-olds than ever are going to school
The age at which youngsters are first sent to school has been dropping for three decades. While only a fifth of three- and four-year-olds were enrolled in nurseries in 1971, that figure has now tripled to 64 per cent.
At the other end of the educational ladder, there has been an even greater increase in students benefiting from higher education, from 621,000 in the 1970s to almost 2.6 million in 2007.
Parents, however, are struggling to keep up with their offspring’s educational needs. While 59 per cent of mothers and fathers were confident helping a Year One child with their homework, only 17 per cent could provide any advice by the time their son or daughter was in the last year of school.
LAW AND ORDER
Crime has halved in 10 years but two-thirds of us still think it is rising
The British Crime Survey reported that offences had dropped from 19.4 million in 1995 to 10.1 million in 2007-08, but the message does not appear to be getting through to the public, and 65 per cent of people still think crime levels are increasing.
The fight against gun crime seems to be making progress, with firearms incidents down 6 per cent in 2007-08, to 17,300. However, violent crime still accounts for 20 per cent of all crimes, a total of 2.2 million incidents.
A quarter of young people aged 10 to 25 said they had been a victim of crime in the past year. The figures were highest among boys aged 10 to 15 – 38 per cent of whom said they had been a victim and 28 per cent had been assaulted. One third of all crimes recorded were theft or handling stolen goods.
EMPLOYMENT
More women than ever are making a mark in the workplace
The gap in employment rates between men and women has closed to its smallest on record. While the number of working-age men in employment fell from 92 per cent in 1971 to 79 per cent in 2007, the rate for women went from 56 per cent to 70 per cent. By the end of last year, 16 million men and 13.6 million women had jobs.
Lone mothers with children under five were least likely to be employed – only a third worked, compared to two-thirds of those with partners.
People are working longer, with one-fifth saying they toiled more than 48 hours a week. But industrial relations affected productivity, with more than a million working days lost to labour disputes in 2007.
POPULATION
The number of people in the UK is growing by 1,000 a day
Today, more than 61 million people live in the United Kingdom, with a further 10 million predicted to inhabit the country by 2031.
Since 2007, there have been more pensioners than children under 16, and the past three decades have seen a threefold increase in the number of people over 90. At the moment, more than 400,000 Britons can claim to have reached this grand age.
As has been the case since 1922, slightly more boys are being born than girls. Of the 772,200 live births in 2007, 51 per cent were male.
While applications for British citizenship increased by 8 per cent in 2007, to 160,980, a similar number – 173,000 – left the UK to work abroad.
Life expectancy for women is now 80.4 years – almost double that of a century ago – and is still way ahead of men, whose average lifespan is 77.2 years.
LIFESTYLES
Two-thirds of teens are now social networkers
Britain is still a nation of couch potatoes it seems. Both sexes say that watching television is their favourite pastime, while sport and exercise comes fifth for men and 10th for women. Computers have brought the greatest change of the past 10 years – the number of homes with a PC has risen from 29 per cent to 70 per cent. Online networking is most popular among on children – 27 per cent of eight- to 11-year-olds have a web profile, but only 15 per cent of parents do so. By the age of 16, more than two-thirds of teenagers are using sites such as MySpace and Bebo.
WEALTH
One in four households admit that they have no savings
The rainy day may have come but a quarter of households were unprepared, reporting in 2007 that they had no savings. Pensioners were most likely to have savings of £20,000 or more. In the past 20 years, average household net wealth has more than doubled in real terms to £113,000 per head. In 2007, 36 per cent of people said they were living comfortably, compared to 24 per cent in 1986. The number of people finding finances difficult to manage dropped from 26 per cent to 18 per cent.
Despite total household debt rising more than threefold in the past two decades, it remained at 90 per cent of annual disposable income.
HEALTH
Anti-depressants given out at four times the rate of the early 1990s
While Britain has tackled its smoking habit with some success, depression, alcohol and obesity plague us more than ever. In 2007, 34 million anti-depressants pills were prescribed in England, up from nine million in 1991.
The number of smokers has fallen from almost half the population to a fifth in the past three decades. But the number of alcohol-related deaths has more than doubled since 1991.
By 2007, a third of boys and girls were obese. The situation was even worse among adults, with 65 per cent of men and 56 per cent of women above a healthy weight.
The most common sexually transmitted disease is chlamydia, with 200 cases per 100,000. At the end of 2007, an estimated 77,000 people in the UK were living with HIV, with 7,800 new cases that year.
HOUSING
One third of our children live in sub-standard homes
The poverty gap is still much in evidence, with one third of families with children living in sub-standard housing. However, the proportion of children whose parents’ disposable income is well below the national average has fallen from 26 per cent to 22 per cent in the past decade.
The disastrous state of the housing market is also reflected in the ONS study. The number of property sales plummeted from a peak of 154,000 in December 2006 to 52,000 by December 2008. The number of home repossessions soared by 25 per cent between 2006 and 2007.
The rate at which new houses are built has been falling for four decades, from 426,000 in 1968 to 214,000 last year. Between 2006 and 2007, the number of rental properties rose by 10 per cent, or 300,000.
Single-parent families are most likely to be renting their homes – 63 per cent of them are tenants, compared with 19 per cent of couples with children.
TRAVEL
Foreign travel soars with trips to new European nations
Before the economic downturn, Britons took a record 45.4 million holidays abroad, an increase of 56 per cent since 1997. The number of trips to Latvia rose tenfold, while Slovakia and Poland saw 957 per cent and 719 per cent increases, respectively. Spain is still the main destinations for a third of British holidaymakers. But half of those interviewed in 2008 said they were less likely to go abroad this year.
ENVIRONMENT
A little over half of us are worried about climate change
Just 53 per cent of people questioned said that climate change concerned them, slightly below the European average. Nevertheless, there have been positive moves to avoid energy wastage.
Over the past decade, the amount of household waste recycled has risen from 8 per cent to 35 per cent. Sixty-six per cent of adults no longer leave televisions on standby and 50 per cent always turn lights off when they leave a room. However, for the first time, the number of two-car households has surpassed the number of families with no car.
SOCIETY
More boys are seeking help for bullying and abuse
The number of children seeking abuse counselling from ChildLine has risen substantially, with the number of boys contacting the charity more than doubling from 24,115 in 1997-8 to 58,311 a decade later. In 2007, more than 81,000 boys and girls were in local authority care – up 18 per cent in 10 years.
Forty per cent of children whose mothers work are cared for by their family, usually their grandparents.
The proportion of people receiving intensive home care rose from 12 per cent in 1993 to 52 per cent in 2007.

Not Forgetting Jade Goody
“Jade Goody: From monster to media phenomenon”
She was the gobby girl next door who was vilified then vindicated by the media that made her.
Jade Goody died yesterday [March 22, 2009], at a pitifully young 27. There will not be a paper in this country that will not devote pages to this long-expected fact and, later, to her funeral. It will be on the one o’clock news, and the six, and the ten. It will be surprising if you do not have at least one conversation about her today. Jade Goody was one of the most famous people in this country. But when my eight-year-old daughter asked “What is Jade famous for?”, I could not find an answer. In a way, everything that has been written about her over the past seven years has been us debating just that question.
In Jade Goody’s life, there were three turning points − as if her existence was engineered by a Hollywood script doctor into the perfect three-act play. And, as if to prove this theory, every one of those turning points was broadcast, and can be found on YouTube.
Jade’s life and career were interchangeable, and were driven by her flush of fame on Big Brother, her disgraced exit from Celebrity Big Brother under allegations of racism and, finally, the phone call to the Indian Bigg Boss game show, where she discovered she had cervical cancer. Never before has someone’s life been chronicled in such broadcastable entirety and this is, ultimately, what it means to be a reality star.
Those who are prone to melancholy about modern life are apt to see this as a sinister and unhappy phenomenon: someone’s life being shaped and broadcast by a single business − the TV company Endemol. It has, at best, overtures of The Truman Show and, at worst, a light-entertainment Nineteen Eighty-Four.
But the first thing that must be understood about Jade’s life before she effectively sold it to Endemol and, latterly, OK! Magazine is that it was almost unimaginably bleak. In the lead-up to applying to take part in Big Brother 3 in 2002, Jade was in a physically abusive relationship with a drug-addicted boyfriend and was living in a flat in Bermondsey, southeast London, with her mother, Jackiey Budden, who had recently acquired a ferocious crack habit. Drugs were a familiar theme of family life – there is even a picture of Jade, at the age of 4, with a spliff in her mouth.
From the age of 5, when her mother had lost her arm in a motorcycle crash, Jade had effectively become Budden’s main carer: cooking, cleaning, bathing her, and, when told to, rolling her joints.
Jackiey worked as a thief and “clipper” – someone who pretends to book a prostitute, then runs off with clients’ wallets. Jade’s father was a heroin addict who left when Jade was 2, and eventually died at the age of 42 in the toilets of a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Bournemouth. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that her childhood was like Shameless − but without any of the good bits.
So while for most people the idea of entering the psychological minefield of a sensationalist, pugilistic, popularity TV show would seem bafflingly unpleasant and demeaning, to Jade Goody it was not only better than anything that had happened before, but also a potential escape route from her entire life, as it stood. The odds on winning the National Lottery are one in 14 million. The odds of winning Big Brother’s £70,000 prize were only one in 12.
“I had never felt like a child, and had that feeling of not caring about anything. Going in there felt like a holiday camp, and I was acting like a child,” Goody said later.
TURNING POINT 1
What happened to Jade on that first Big Brother is still something on which, puzzlingly, there is no convergence of opinion. The general line is that Jade went in there and initially came across as the realisation of Britain’s underclass nightmares. She was loud and gobby and prone to screaming “Oh my God!” at the slightest provocation. She got drunk during a game of strip poker and was slyly goaded into taking off her clothes by other, notably more sober, contestants. By the time she threatened to “deck” a fellow housemate, Adele, for “giving” her a verruca, the media was in agreement: the Daily Star called her “a monster”, the Daily Mirror and The Sun concurred that she was “the most hated woman in Britain”. At the weekly evictions, audience members started holding up banners reading “Kill The Pig”, despite the fact that Jade had, really, done little worse than others of her age in student union bars every Friday night.
At this point, popular wisdom has it that some manner of celebrity miracle occurred and that, having reached crisis point with her fellow contestants, Jade dug deep within herself, calmed down, then slowly won the country round with her Cockney pluck and, most crucially, her quotable, cheery ignorance. She asked if Mother Teresa was related to “Mr Heinstein”, wondered “Do chickens eat cheese?”, postulated that Saddam Hussein was a boxer, wailed “I don’t want to be used as an escape goat!” and, most infamously, commented “Where’s East Angular − is that abroad?”
The press started to write about her as a classic British eccentric, a loudmouthed but essentially well-meaning ditz. Where once she had been a monster − a “slapper with a face like a pig”, as the Star columnist Dominik Diamond put it − she was now a blonde Frank Spencer. By the time she was evicted from the Big Brother house, she emerged to wildly cheering crowds, triumphal tabloid headlines and offers of management and PR representation. A whole new future had come about in just seven weeks.
Personally, I always had a suspicion that it was a more complicated victory than either Jade, or most of the public, thought, and that both Endemol and the tabloids had been forced into championing Jade. After all, it seemed odd how the tone of coverage in the programme itself and in the press seemed to switch 180 degrees overnight − the day after the “Kill The Pig” placards arrived outside the studio gates. I thought that, quite simply, Endemol and the tabloids had realised that things were getting out of hand and that they were setting up a quite normal, outspoken 20-year-old girl to be lynched. They had, quite rightly, panicked and instigated an instant and rigorous editorial makeover, to cover their arses.
Five years later, in The Independent, this view seemed to find support in an interview with the psychologist Cynthia McVey. She revealed that, at the height of the anti-Jade press hysteria, she had had a conversation with the producers of Big Brother, voicing her concern that Goody had been wholly dehumanised in those first weeks of the show. “Every bit of [Jade’s] character [had] been attacked. She was [portrayed as] ugly, nasty and stupid. I have a theory,” McVey said, “that after I said that, some people felt that they had gone too far, and they turned around and supported her.”
If this is true − and the Daily Mirror’s frankly laughable claim at the time that its initial, virulently anti-Jade coverage was “a brilliantly conceived clandestine campaign to drum up sympathy for the divine Ms Goody” suggests that it is − then it greatly informs the second turning point of Jade’s life. For while it turned out to be no hardship for the press to continue supporting Jade for the next five years − Goody supplied them with a useful stream of pregnancies, births, failed relationships, successful business ventures and disingenuous quotes − we must remember that the tabloid press is apt to bear a grudge and does not like to abandon a good story.
TURNING POINT 2
Within minutes of Jade entering the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2007 it was clear that she had made a massive mistake. Goody had accumulated her estimated £8million fortune by hauling herself up by her bootstraps. The Jade that had left Big Brother in 2002 was a blowsy, overweight bottle-blonde dental nurse celebrated for her failed-GCSE malapropisms. The Jade that took part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2007, on the other hand, was slim and sleek, with a shiny brunette bob, owner of a successful beauty salon, and the name behind Shh... , the third-bestselling celebrity perfume at Superdrug, after Kylie’s and Britney’s. She had left behind her underclass upbringing and turned into a successful working-class businesswoman.
But the format of Celebrity Big Brother was such that Jade had to bring her past − her mother, former heroin addict Jackiey − with her. While Jade had had five years to get used to celebrity and the media, Jackiey had had no such experience and, coupled with her extremely truculent and disruptive personality, she effectively made Jade regress. In a house filled with “proper” celebrities − one of the Jackson Five, one of The A-Team, Leo Sayer − Jackiey and Jade seemed insecure and out of place. And their most obvious insecurity was triggered by Shilpa Shetty − a luminously beautiful, gracious Bollywood star, whose name Jackiey steadfastly refused to pronounce. Jackiey preferred to refer to her as “the Indian” instead.
Of course, we all know how this situation ended − with effigies of Jade being burnt on the streets of India, Gordon Brown having to make comments on the affair at press conferences, and tabloids and broadsheet columnists alike wading in to condemn Jade for her “racist comments” towards Shetty.
I don’t want to be contrary, but it rarely seemed as if those who were commenting on Jade’s behaviour had actually watched the show. They had simply “heard” that she’d said something “racist”, then written a trite column about how much they hated racism. As someone who watched the show every day, what I saw was an insecure girl with gigantic class issues trying to wound someone whom she, ultimately, perceived as being innately superior to her. What was Goody’s biggest racist slur towards Shilpa Shetty? Calling her “Shilpa Poppadum”. While it’s clearly not behaviour that’s going to win any medals from Nelson Mandela, it’s scarcely the Final Solution. It’s just a chippy girl who has always had a problem with articulacy, lashing out in the heat of a long-rumbling personality clash.
But from a media point of view, of course, Jade had been allowed to be famous in the first place only as a fluke, an act of grace. Now she had made a mistake, no one held back. A week after she left the Celebrity Big Brother house in disgrace, her perfume was withdrawn from sale and her next TV show cancelled. She was effectively made to begin her career all over again.
TURNING POINT 3
This is also Goody’s final turning point, for it is when cancer was diagnosed in August 2008. The moment that she found out can also be seen on YouTube − as, when she received the phone call from her doctor, she was on Bigg Boss in India, co-starring with Shilpa Shetty. She was there, I would say rather courageously, paying penance for what happened on Celebrity Big Brother the year before.
As with Jade’s other two turning points, her cancer was both public and controversial. Jade refused to retire from her job − which was, essentially, being Jade Goody − and announced her intention to sell stories about her cancer to magazines, newspapers and TV companies, in the same way that she had sold all other aspects of her life since 2002.
This caused immediate contention, with many believing that death, if nothing else, should be a private affair. Others − myself included − pointed out that there may possibly be a class issue here. When the Times journalist John Diamond wrote columns about his cancer, he was not condemned in pub conversations across the country. And besides, Goody was about to leave two small sons behind. Who, really, could blame her for wanting to leave them as much money as she could? But still the arguments rumbled on, with increasing invective on either side. When I mentioned on Facebook that I was writing this piece, comments on Goody ranged from “She is a true inspiration” to “She is a renowned racist media whore”.
Both, I think, were wrong. You see, the point about Jade Goody is that she was a perfectly ordinary girl. She wasn’t particularly brilliant or talented, but then neither was she unkind, truculent or lazy. She had a cheery charm and an inarticulate but nonetheless effective knack of being perfectly emotionally open, and communicating the ups and downs of her life.
In her audition tape for Big Brother, she had sold herself as “Basically like Bianca on EastEnders − a real-life Cockney girl selling you bananas down the market”, and that is exactly what she was − through all her disgraces, the birth of her two children, the ebbs and flows of her career and, eventually, her illness and death.
The reason we have spent the past seven years trying to answer the question “Why is Jade Goody famous?” is because hers is a new kind of fame, one that has come in the wake of Heat and OK! and dozens of cable channels offering reality TV shows. It is the same manner of fame shared by Kerry Katona, Katie Price and any dozen former Big Brother contestants. Those onlookers who were instinctively, persistently vexed, even angered, by Goody’s ubiquity were those with a rather old-fashioned belief: that fame is, in itself, a precious commodity, that should be given only to those who are, ultimately, deserving.
But these days, fame is rather like cancer. It makes no character judgments. And in the end − also like cancer − it can happen to anyone.

...4.0, here we go ! After the shocking Monday news, there is so much speculation ! Heidi and Amelle haven't spoken about the case yet, but the Mirror published an interview stating that "None of [them] was happy" and they had to come up with a solution. So Keisha apparently pushed herself out of the band with her ultimatum ? The story isn't about to end, trust me !

SPICE GIRLS...
...is a second reunion Too Much ? Time to say Stop ? Well, last week, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell enjoyed a lovely dinner, texting Victoria Beckham all night, coz she was still in L.A. Later, Mel B tweeted the words "Spice Girls, A stadium?" leading to the rumor that the girls are planning a second reunion. Remember, in 2007, they embarked on the Return Of The Spice Girls tour, performing 47 shows and cancelling before the end of the tour. Geri Halliwell, on television, said that they were at like stage 1, gathering information and see if there is a possibility for them to do that. The Spice Girls sold more than 65 million records worldwide. Geri Halliwell left in May 1998. The remaining members toured in America as a 4-piece band, before ending their world tour with their 104th show at Wembley Stadium on September 20, 1998. The tour began February 24, 1998. They reunited in 2000 with their third album 'Forever' before going their separate ways. They announced their comeback tour in 2007. Between "Forever" and their "Greatest Hits", they all enjoyed moderate or plain success as solo artists, with Melanie C having the most successful solo career within the band. She's currently recording her 5th studio album scheduled for an April 2010 release.

MEMORY LANE #9

As the Sugababes changed their line-up, and with Keisha being a talented artist, this Memory Lane will feature my fave Sugababes song, from each lineup...
SUGABABES 1.0: Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, Siobhàn Donaghy: SOUL SOUND
SUGABABES 2.0: Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range: CAUGHT IN A MOMENT
SUGABABES 3.0: Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah: FOLLOW ME HOME / ABOUT YOU NOW

GOODBYE KEISHA

Dear Friends I'm sad to say that I am no longer apart of the Sugababes. I've had a great time and have achieved more then I ever thought I would. Although it was not my choice to leave, it's time to enter a new chapter in my life.
I have nothing but positive things to say about the girls and I wish them the best of luck. I would like to state that there were no arguments, bullying or anything of the sort that lead to this. Sometimes a break down in communication and lack of trust can result in many different things. I would also like to point out that I have always supported the girls and they have also supported me. Remember my drunk pictures out with Amelle, supporting her on her success with Tinchy Stryder... Oh the shame... But what a fun night we had.
Now I'm going to take some time to focus on me. I've been in this band for 11 years and I have achieved so much. I have a great family and friends who are behind me 100% and at the age of 24, I'm now going out into this world on my own...Although im nervous... I'm still very excited on what lies ahead.
I want to thank the Sugababes fans and my fans for all your support and all who have never judged me, but excepted me for who I am...The feisty, funny, professional, fearless, motor mouth... lol...This is not the end... but the beginning!!!!
Thank you always... Keisha xxx

Keisha Buchanan just posted this message on her Twitter Account, following this statement:
Sugababes Statement
Monday 21st September
The current line-up of the Sugababes has disbanded.
Heidi
Range and Amelle Berrabah will continue as the Sugababes and will be
joined by new member Jade Ewen. They release their album ‘Sweet 7’ on
November 23rd through Island Records.
Keisha Buchanan will continue to record for Island Records as a solo artist.
----------------------------------------------
I'd like to wish Keisha a long career. You like her or not, but she's an amazing artist and will forever be part of this band in the fans' heart. You'll be truly missed as a Sugababe, but we're excited about your new adventures. Be back soon.
As for the Babes, welcome Jade Ewen, and to you three, all the best for the new album and your future too. You deserve all the success you have !

BREAKING NEWS !
According to Heat World, Amelle Berrabah is SUPPOSED to have left the Sugababes...
Amelle Berrabah has left the Sugababes, heatworld has just
been told – and she is set to be replaced by singer Jade Ewen. Rumours
that Amelle was quitting have been circulating all week, but just a few
minutes ago an industry insider told us exclusively, "I've been told
off the record that Jade is joining the Sugababes." Jade Ewen's record
label Geffen sent an official statement out just a few minutes ago
which read, "Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we
regret to inform you that Jade Ewen will be taking time off from all
promotional activity for the foreseeable future." Amelle has yet to
release a statement confirming the news, but we will bring you any
updates on this story as soon as we have them.
If you think you recognise Jade Ewen, it's probably because she
competed at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest representing Britain.
She was born in London, and is just 21 years old.
heatworld is currently in the process of contacting the Sugababes record label to ask for an official statement. Stay with us...
OK, so we’ve just spoken to a second industry insider and they have
refused to deny the rumours. The official line at the moment is “no
comment”. If there was
zero truth to the rumours, then believe us, we would’ve been told by
now. We’ll be watching this story very closely this evening and over
the weekend, and we'll bring you all the updates as soon as we get them.
Will keep you updated. Just praying this is not true. Amelle brought credibility, glamour and talent to the band. Making Jade a Sugababe would be a terrible mistake. If this is true, Heidi and Keisha should continue as a duo.
Stay tuned.
UPDATE: 19/09/2009
Apparently, Jade Ewen will be flying out to LA today to shoot the video for About A Girl with Heidi and Keisha. A Twitter fansite for Jade has also revealed that her stylist has confirmed she will be joining the Sugababes and that Amelle has left.
As usual, Island have left us in the dark, so right now no one knows what exactly is going on...
via www.sugatime.tk
Update: This morning a friend of Jade Ewen’s has confirmed that the singer is joining the band, and she is expected to join Keisha and Heidi in LA to record the video for a new single. There is yet to be any official announcement from the Sugababes’ or Amelle’s camp, but their refusal to deny these reports is making it seem increasingly likely that it is indeed fact. We expect an official statement will be circulated over the weekend.
via Suganet
BREAKING NEWS
Amelle DID NOT leave the Babes, her sister just told me. She also confirmed it to one of my Twitter friends ! Let's now wait for the management to release an official statement. Amelle and her sis being real close, it's more likely to be the truth.
"Amelle is in LA filming the Sugababes new video, she has not left the band, thank you for your concern !"
"Amelle is in LA filming there new video for her new single, so yes she is still in the Suga Babes, and God Willing she will be in the band for along time, i dont know where all these rumours are coming from, but thank you for your kind words. x"
20/09/2009
SUGABABE Keisha Buchanan says Eurovision flop Jade Ewen is NOT joining them – but their future still looks uncertain.
She denied Jade would replace Amelle Berrabah, saying: “It’s not true
she’s joining.”She’s a friend of mine but no, I’m not a liar. It’s
completely false, that’s the honest to God truth. One hundred per cent.”
But sources close to Jade said she HAD been in LA, where the Babes were meant to be recording a music video for their new single.
Keisha said the trio – who also include blonde Heidi Range – have patched up the problems between them, which led to Amelle going AWOL.
“We’re all still in LA, me and the girls. There is no hate going on between us. There’s the three of us in this band and no-one is joining,” she said.
But their record company Island is due to make a big announcement on the future of the band in the next couple of days, fuelling speculation they might split.
A source said: “There’s crunch talks being held at the moment. Keisha doesn’t know if she can deal with the stress of a new member joining if Amelle leaves. It seems like the perfect time for the band to end.
“They’re not best mates but as far as Amelle is concerned she’s a Sugababe for the moment while they sort everything out.”
Source: News Of The World
Everyone thinks it's going to be the feared announcement: Sugababes releasing Sweet 7, going on tour, and then split next year. But...
James, a Suganet visitor just got a message from Amelle’s sister Zakiya on Facebook saying:
Hi, Amelle is still in the Sugababes , but some exciting and great news will be coming up.
If it's still uncertain whether the Babes are going separate ways or not, there's still hope for the fans !

Just a quickie
Basically, we just want to say that we have absolutely no idea about what has gone on in the past couple days, but we will try and fill you in as we find out more. It’s very difficult to find out what has really happened as there has been a lot of fabrication, and we won’t really know what has happened until either Keisha, Amelle, Heidi or their management tells us all. If you click ‘Continue Reading’ below, you can read what has happened so far in the ‘Amellegate’.
As you may know, the girls were set to do two gigs: the MSN Exclusives gig in London and the RoAR gig in Scotland. Both gigs went ahead, with only Heidi and Keisha performing. It was said that Amelle wasn’t taking part as her friend had been in an accident.
DigitalSpy said Amelle had been missing for days, and nobody could get hold of her. The article said that Amelle was ’scared’ and ‘felt bullied’ by Keisha. The next day, Amelle said on Twitter:
“MISSING!!!? is this some sort of joke!!!!! im not bloody missing!!!!!”
Keisha had landed in LA ahead of the girls where they
are due to shoot a video for ‘About a Girl’ next week. She took a
little holiday because she has friends in LA. She said: (Note: We’ve
cleared up the grammar a little to make it easier to read!)
Why the fuck have I just woken up in LA to 25 phone calls of people telling me that I’m in the paper today for a completely made up story about me bullying Amelle and not being supportive, blah blah blah? I’ve let the papers tell lies about me when it comes to stories like that in the past, I’ve let members talk crap about me and tried to laugh it off because I know the truth, my friends, family and MOST of all GOD. But not anymore. I may come across as a hard nut sometimes, but i’m actually really sensitive and it destroys me to think that people today are going to read that and believe it. I feel like no one EVER bothers to look deep into the Sugababes story. They see me as the longest standing member and assume that I’m the bitch who causes people to walk, and its totally untrue and unfair. All I’ve ever done is work my ass off, trying to keep the dream alive, because I love the fans and my job. I don’t give a shit about being famous, we’re all on the same level. I’ve always put this band before me and I never thought that I was bigger than it. It’s a great team effort. TRUTH: I’m going to say that its fair to say in the first line-up that there were arguments, certain parents were involved then calling shots which caused a lot of shit. And with the current line up, I can honestly say that we all get along! I’m sure we bug each other at times…but I love them girls. And there has NEVER been bullying in Sugababes EVER! I don’t know what to do anymore. I’ll take a lie detector test to prove everything if I have to. I’m sick of this:-( I’m so crushed guys, but I know God is under control, so i’ll be down today but I’m a strong girl and I will get back up. All I ask is for you not to judge me please, but get to know my heart, give me a chance and don’t believe what you have heard/read about me. I understand that some people are not going to like me and they might believe it…and that’s fine because I know that God is my judge and I don’t hate you for it. But to those of you that are supporting me thank u so so much. I promise you that I am telling the truth and I won’t let you down. Wow history repeats… This hurts. Thanks again Love kay x”
Keisha’s boyfriend, Dean Thomas, said this on Twitter, which has now been deleted:
“I’m not being funny guys, but the other two girls also have Twitters and it dissapointed me that they haven’t gone on their Twitters to try and dispell the rumours knowing that it isn’t true! K is away and she hasn’t even had one phone call from either of them to show their support, but I guess what its not them in the firing line, it doesn’t matter! But when they are, she is the first to show support and be the group backbone! Today I am very dissapointed and fu*ked off!“
Yesterday, the News of the World (who often make up stories, so it is pretty unreliable), reported more about Amelle going ‘AWOL’. It does seem very much made up, and parts of the things that Keisha ’said’, I have read that Heidi said in another little interview. According to the article, Keisha was worried for Amelle, so she asked the management if they could get the police around at Amelle’s house. She is ‘worried’ that Amelle wants to do things on her own, and that every so often in a band, there is someone who gets a little bit big-headed and thinks they’re better than the group. Apparently, Amelle kept blaming things on Freddie, and on her family.
Neither Heidi or Amelle have said anything about what has happened. All Amelle has said is that she ‘isn’t missing’. A lot of this, especially the News of the World article, seems made up. However, there is definately something that we are not being told. The Suganet team just hope that everything is alright, and if you’re reading this Keisha, don’t let this get you down!
Recent events show that the Babes are still the Babes, as Heidi landed in LA after fans worried that the Sugababe was still at home. She just took a different flight so she could attend her boyfriend's birthday.

--------------------
THIS IS A CHEZ WORLD
It's a tricky one, this Cheryl Cole thing. Not only is she facing the
questions levelled at any girlbander going solo - "Can she actually sing?" etc. - but she's got the added pressure that comes with her X Factor
fame. She's already one of the biggest stars in the country, almost too
big a star to be releasing her first single, so "quite good" isn't
really going to cut it.
Fortunately, 'Fight For This Love',
which premiered on Radio 1 earlier, is better than quite good. It's a
midtempo electro-R&B track written by Andre Merritt, Steve Kipner
and Wayne Wilkins, it doesn't sound like anything Girls Aloud have
given us, and it's got a real quiet confidence to it. It doesn't slap
you round the face the first time you hear it - the production's slick
rather than bombastic, and there's no whopping great hook - but after
three or four plays it seduces you like a high-class hooker. "This,"
you realise, "is a really good song."
And Cheryl?
Well, her vocals are husky, sexy and stronger than many would have
expected. The lyrics, without getting too gossip raggy about it, do
strike a particular chord given her romantic history. Ear-snagging
lines include "Now everyday love ain't no picnic" and "Knowing too much
can get you hurt", but the song's message is actually very positive.
"We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love," she sings
on the chorus, "If it's worth having, it's worth fighting for."
Needless
to say, she's got a lot still to do, but 'Fight For This Love' gets
Cheryl Cole's solo career off to a cracking start. Roll on the video,
the album and of course the vitally important X Factor performance.

GET SEXY OUT NOW !
The Babes released their new single Get Sexy last week and were #1 in the midweeks before being beaten by Jay-Z. You still can buy Get Sexy here - you have until tomorrow to make them reaching the top spot again ! The new album, Sweet 7th, is released November 23, the release date was pushed to avoid a chart battle with Robbie Williams.
It looks like you have a chance of being number one this weekend - how are you feeling?
Heidi: Nervous, excited. Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye and the gang are up on us and are not far behind.
You're signed to Jay-Z's label - are you thinking 'Oh sorry! We could beat you'?
Amelle: Not at all, no - we wanna win! It's nice that we can be up there and compete with people like that, which is cool. But we definitely want the number one.
Amelle: We've worked so hard on this album. We're so excited to be working with all these amazing people and to be signed to Roc Nation (Jay-Z's label). We just really really would like this to be a number one. I think we deserve it.
Amelle topped the charts with her Tinchy Stryder collaboration. Are there other plans to do stuff outside of the Sugababes?
Heidi: We've always said we wanted to do things outside of the band but obviously Sugababes is our main priority. But if the right thing comes along then we're open to anyone doing what they want to do. The right thing came along for Amelle and if it comes along for me or Keisha then we'll take the opportunity.
What kind of reaction have your new songs got?
Heidi: We've had such a good reaction. This album meant a lot to us and we absolutely love the songs we've done. It is a different sound - especially the single - and it means a lot to come back and our fans have been brilliant. They've really supported us and we're really pleased they like it. We can't wait for them to hear the rest of the album.
And what about the rumour that Rihanna's gonna be the fourth Sugababe?
Keisha: When we were in the studio recording in LA, sometimes when we'd leave we'd hear we had just missed her. She would go in and hear a couple of our tracks and we heard about her opinions on a lot of them. She liked a lot of the tracks. A lot of the tracks she heard were finished before we even heard them - so it was almost like she was the fourth Sugababe.
What do you think about the new X Factor series?
Keisha: I prefer the old set-up and the audition rooms - it felt a bit more real. But I'm excited because now we're getting to see some amazing singers and I can't wait for the live audience.
Would any of you like to be a judge on a show like that?
Amelle: Not really, I just want to be a singer.
Keisha: It depends. I think people do things for different reasons. I'm quite an opinionated person so maybe I'd do it because I have a lot to say.
Heidi: I'd just be crying the whole time and feel mean saying 'You're not very good'!
Amelle: I'd find it quite hard as well. Say if there's someone who's genuinely serious singing and you can't help but laugh. I can't hide myself if I need to laugh... I think that would come across in a really bad way!

NO ANGELS: ONE LIFE, ONE DISAPPOINTMENT
Released 2 weeks ago, "One Life", the smash hit single from No Angels' new album "Welcome To The Dance", became their 15th single out of 17 released to reach the German Top 20. Which is great. Still, I feel big disappointment. Their lead singles from their albums went all top 10:
Daylight In Your Eyes: #1
Something About Us: #1
No Angel (It's All In Your Mind): #1
Goodbye To Yesterday: #4
And One Life entered the German top 100 at #15. Personally, this is a huge disappointment for me, because to me, this single is better than Goodbye To Yesterday, and the girls DEFINITELY deserved a top 5, AT LEAST. Still, let's hope the new album will reach a higher position. You can preorder it at amazon.de - Welcome To The Dance is released September 11.
