Vanessa Petruo is in Avignon, France, right now, supporting her boy Raphael Hillebrand with pride, as he is performing a hip hop duet there with Sebastien Ramirez, a show named "Seuls, Ensemble" (Alone, Together) - it's a refreshed Vany we saw there, taking a well deserved break before releasing her second solo album next month. Hope you like our country, V !

IT'S FRANCE ALL THE WAY !

Liz McClarnon was in France too, taking her mum in Théoule Sur Mer for a well deserved break too. Liz told us recently that her mom went through bad times, and Lil probably felt the need to escape England after the busy year she had so far ! The lovely blonde posted pics on her official Twitter page, and was there to attend the Bastille Day celebrations. She even told me that she was planning on living in France on a permanent basis in the future ! Liz then said that the t-shirts she designed for this event sold out and raised over £500,000. Congratulations, Mademoiselle McClarnon !

MESSAGE FROM GIRLS ALOUD

Cheryl, Nicola, Nadine, Kimberley & Sarah posted last week a message to clear the air about the recent split rumours:

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all good and getting ready for summer.

We've decided to write this note together, because we want to set the record straight about what is happening in our world.

Over the next twelve months we are all going to be involved in lots of different things - music, TV, fashion and more. Sometimes it may be a solo project - sometimes just a couple of us and sometimes all five of us together.

We are definitely NOT splitting up. In fact we have all signed a new contract with Fascination/Polydor Records guaranteeing that we will release at least another three Girls Aloud albums - minimum. We will definitely all be going into the studio next year to record - and there will definitely be a new GA album in 2010.

For the rest of this year - you'll have to wait and see, but it will be full of surprises - we promise!

Natasha Hamilton said on her Myspace Page that she has been confirmed as support artist with the Pussycat Dolls at Liverpool's Echo Arena on Wednesday 22nd July 2009. You can get your tickets now ! DUNCAN JAMES CONFESSES

You can now download Shakira's new single "She Wolf" and its spanish version "Loba" on iTunes ! The English version is absolutely amazing and Shakira proves that she is a living legend ! She said about it to Rolling Stone magazine:

"She Wolf came to me very mysteriously, I was in the studio in a bad mood that day, then I got inspired and went to a corner and I wrote the lyrics and the melody in 10 minutes. The image of the she wolf just came to my head, and when I least expected it I was howling and panting". Shakira talked further about the song to Access Hollywood: "I think ‘She Wolf’ has a lot to do with the moment in which I feel I am. I feel much freer now as a woman, a little more in touch with my own desires, and I tend to listen to myself a little more. ‘What does Shakira want?’. Not what everybody else wants, but what do I really want? And I think that the song deep inside is about that. [It’s] like a more animalistic side of you, a more primitive side … an animal person in a way, So when you understand these things you forgive yourself every time you screw up, you say, It wasn’t me, that was the she wolf … that was the animal in me, that wasn’t me, I have nothing to do with that".

BRITNEY SPEARS: NEW ALBUM OR GREATEST HITS ?

My first reaction was: YAY ! Britney & Max Martin is the perfect combination for a worldwide hit ! Then the press began saying that Britney was working on a new studio album, but other rumours are getting confirmed - Britney is apparently recording new songs with Max Martin for a Singles Collection release in the coming months. It would feature Britney's Greatest Hits from the last 10 years including songs from "Blackout" & "Circus", which weren't released in 2004 when her best of was made. And the good news is that 6 exclusive songs would be included in that new CD, and a new single would be released soon.

On a private side, Britney is said to regain her life totally, as her father is about to give up on his rights to manage her daughter's goods. Here's to a bright future for the Queen of Pop. You go Brit !

MIKA IS BACK

Mika's second studio album, We Are Golden, is set to be released on 21 September, 2009. Mika returned to Los Angeles to work again with producer and musician Greg Wells, who also produced his debut album Life In Cartoon Motion. The album has been described as Mika dealing with his adolescent teenage years and "in a sense is kind of part two" of his first album. The first single from the album, also called "We Are Golden", made its radio debut in the United Kingdom on 20 July, 2009, on BBC Radio 2 and will be released for download on 6 September, 2009, with the phyical release following on 7 September, 2009.

After Shania Twain and Ace Of Base last week, I just had to dig out these two UK #1 hits !

The first one is Never Ever, from All Saints. This 1998 single was released the same week as the Spice Girls' "Stop" but went to number one, breaking the Spice Girls' chain of successive number ones !
